HSHA Annual Business Meeting to Follow
Those with last names beginning with A-F please bring a salad, G-M a main dish, and N-Z a dessert.
For almost fifty years the High Street Hill Association has worked to promote a sense of neighborhood and has been an advocate for the interests of its residents on a wide array of issues. At each monthly meeting we sit around a board member's kitchen table to discuss, debate and plan. Our Annual Meeting is a great chance to hear what we've been up to, meet old and new neighbors over dinner, and learn more about a wonderful historic site that's just down the street. There will be updates on the Muddy River restoration, the installation of artificial turf at Downes Field, the biolab at 2 Brookline Place and, from Assistant Director for Transportation David Friend, the Walnut Street traffic calming. We want to hear what you think. Please join us.
Do you have an old photo of a picnic in a park, a picture of your house before the porch was removed or perhaps items found during a renovation? The organizers of the upcoming celebration of Brookline's 300th Anniversary, are looking for photos, postcards and artifacts that describe Brookline's past and present. Staff from the Town's Preservation Division will scan each picture and return them to you. The archive, called the Brookline 300 Neighborhood and Family Album, will be online for all Town residents to enjoy. Be part of the legacy. For more info see www.brookline300.org.
For Pill Hill residents, the HSHA is planning an afternoon celebrating local art and architecture, featuring homes with significant art collections or architectural significance. Late September or October. Interested? Contact Marie Schick, 617-731-1838 or mschick@nni.com.
As part of our ongoing effort to build a picture of our vibrant neighborhood, we're looking to make a list on our website, www.highstreethill.org, of local authors, artists and musicians. We will provide links to their published materials. Please contact Rob Daves, 617-566-7334, or Tom Elwertowski at webmaster@highstreethill.org.
Yep, it's the dreaded tax season. But it's also the dreaded neighborhood association dues season. In the last Highlight we listed just a few of the important things that the committed volunteers of HSHA have done for our neighborhood in the past year. But it takes support from you to continue the activities and the advocacy. Your $10 per year dues brings quite a return. Please send a check made out to the High Street Hill Association to our treasurer, Jean Peteet at 100 High Street by using the stamped envelope attached to this newsletter. Thank you.
The Brookline Household Hazardous Products Collection Day is Sunday May 1, 2005. 9 AM to 2 PM at the DPW Transfer Station, 815 Newton Street. See the Town website for more info.

Each year the HSHA holds its Annual Picnic on the Upland Road Green on Father's Day. This year, it will be held on Sunday, June 19th. As is the tradition, there will be a barbecue, pony rides for the kids and volleyball. If you have any ideas or would like to help out, please contact Seth Hamot at 617-232-0434.
The Highlight is printed several times a year and is distributed on foot or by bicycle by HSHA Board members and their usually willing family members. If you have a comment or contribution contact the editor, Rob Daves, at 617-566-7334 or robdaves@rcn.com.
